Ernesto Altamirano

Ill-fitted suits that were too big in the shoulders and in the legs, and tying his ties too short (middle). As well as wearing baggy jeans with a decent polo, but also with out-of-date, square-toed dress shoes (right).

Introduction

Ernesto has been going through a tough personal situation, one that we all wish we wouldn't have to endure. And part of that situation, included his image. He never knew what to do about his style, how to approach it, or what his image said about him. Then, a mutual colleague of ours introduced Ernesto to me.

Ernesto's Challenge

He felt lost and overwhelmed and didn't know what to do about his image. He had tons of clothing he was wearing that was either too big, too small, or color-wise, just weren't flattering. He'd been putting lots of work in at the gym, and he wasn't wearing anything that complimented his new physique, or told his story from the outside. This was troubling, because as an entrepreneur of two companies (La Dalia Coffee and VMax Plumbing) he needed people to know he's serious about his businesses, how passionate he is about helping others, and to attract women as a newly eligible bachelor. His image as it was, wasn't helping with much of that.

The Transformation

We had our first appointment over the phone, and I went through the Nuinspiration Image Questionnaire to understand everything he's been going through, what his goals were, what his lifestyle's like, and how we could improve his image. From there, I built out a Personal Brand specifically for him that outlines colors, patterns and fits that will best support his skin tone, hair color, build, and what will non-verbally communicate his personality to the world.

During our first in-person appointment, we conducted a Wardrobe Audit where I discovered all of the clothing he had stashed away. Most of it he said he hardly wore, and some of the stuff he was wearing needed to be dismissed from duty. So, we kept the items that supported his Personal Brand and donated the rest to guys who can't afford what he didn't need.

Following the Wardrobe Audit, I put together an Outfit Development document for Ernesto that specified three primary categories of his wardrobe: professional formal, professional casual, and lifestyle/casual. These three categories were then broken down into different pages giving Ernesto a personal handbook that helps him determine what to wear and when to wear it for both what he currently owns and what will be added down the line.

The Results

The entire process helped Ernesto feel much more comfortable about his image, and has massively changed his self-perception and confidence. He's now the proud owner of not just a new image, but also a brand new custom, made-to-measure suit and dress shirt with more on the way.
