Press the toes flat against the base of the brannock and look straight down over the longest toes to measure the length.
The heel to ball measurement is sometimes known as the arch length. Slide the pointer forward until the inside curve of the pointer fits the ball joint of the foot –the widest, bony part of the foot.
Slide the width bar up to the edge of the foot. Recalling the customers shoe size from above, locate the width measurement that lines up to the corresponding size on the width bar. If it falls between the widths, complete a visual inspection of the foot. If it is extremely fleshy or has a high instep or is extremely muscular, it may be necessary to fit the foot wider. If the foot is thin or bony, it may be necessary to consider a narrower width.
